If someone really understands those things I'd cheerfully pay for it to be set up... or accept advice on making a ppd file or getting it to talk on USB. This is a thermal (transfer) printer with R232 and USB (1.1) interfaces. It can be made to make labels when connected by USB to a WIndows machine, but I have not so far had any action out of it with either serial to ttyS0 or various combinations of Yast2 setup, cat ing data to /dev/lp /dev/usb/lp0 /dev/usblp0 A CUPS ppd file exists for ZPL which is Zebra Printer Language, however this device runs on the earlier EPL 2 (Eltron were taken over by Zebra a while back). ZPL is not of course quite the same as EPL, and it is not absolutely clear to me whether CUPS/YaST2 expect to find that printer on USB, or whether the printer actually wants to be addressed as a USB terminal. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
