[LUG] Building a PC - suggestions please...

Hi

I would like to build a PC. Though I can't say that money is not a 
problem (more's the pity), I can say that for once I don't have to go 
for the cheapest options and if an extra 20 or so quid here and there 
ups the spec it's doable. I'm after a good spec for around the same cost 
as an indifferent spec, rather than a PC for the lowest possible outlay.

It'd be great to hear your recomendations on processors, motherboards, 
memory etc. It doesn't really need to be tweaked in any specialist 
direction, the only thing that might be slightly non standard is using a 
budget (satellite) TV card - one that doesn't do its' own mpeg etc. 
decoding, but depends on other software to do this.

And of course the end result should be linux compatable, (OK, OK, I 
didn't really need to say that, sorry!). It won't be dual booting with 
other OSs, so there is no need accomadate the whims and eccentricities 
of less stable and well designed platforms.

Also if you know of any particularly good retailers, either online or 
around Taunton/Exeter, I'd really like to hear about them.
