The bill is dead but the UKPO and EPO are still allowing their own interpretation of case law that has already led to tens of thousands of software patents. The fight is far from over.
Plus, there is nothing (except inertia) keeping the pro-patent lobby pushing for a whole new directive. It's almost inevitable that a new directive will appear in due course which is why it's essential that everyone keeps alert and up to date.
