I think it is basically an XML validator, not sure how specific it is to RSS - try feeding it a more general XML document I guess see if it spots it isn't an RSS feed ;) http://my.netscape.com/publish/formats/rss-0.91.dtd It complains about pubdate, a quick look suggests that pubdate is not part of Item, but part of channel. > Clicking on an RSS link is always likely to generate a download - the best > method, for me, is to encourage auto-discovery using extensions where > necessary. No RSS is XML, the intention is it should be displayed by Firefox unless overridden by more specific defaults. It is due to a bug that Firefox doesn't recognise all "*/*+xml" Content-Types as XML, so often tries to download rather than render XML. >>Does that need Wiki code rewriting to include the autodiscovery Neil? > > No, auto-discovery already works via the Sage FireFox extension so the code > does work. I'll look into the feed names though. Firefox does autodiscovery with no extensions, if a <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" href="..."> occurs in the <head> of a page. I think better to do it without requiring extensions if we can. Firefox (without extensions) is a pig if the RSS feed doesn't give itself up with the right Content-Type and link headers etc. Firefox will get better at this I'm sure. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Comment: Encryption...is a powerful defensive weapon for free people.
