If you get a recent copy of the Debian installer it does support root on
RAID - I've done it. Indeed we did it at the Debian meeting.

This isn't the release installer for stable. We used a daily build of
the installer from September, but you can probably fine a more recent
version in the frozen testing.

Ah sorry, the version I had kicking around was from before root raid was 
possible and there was a lot going on at that meeting so i missed/forgot 
about that.

Soon fix that with a new net install.

If you have multiple hot swappable disks LVM, or downtime for
maintainance must be very low LVM may be worth it, but for most people
just use simple RAID 1 and forget it.

Ok prehapse for my intended use that is overkill, i will just stick to the 
root raid 1 i think!
