Hi all, I just got a letter from BT broadband on Friday. Apparently they are upgrading all their customers to 2Mb connections (assuming the lines can take it). I am currently on a 1Mb line, and get 30 GB / month bandwidth allowance. After the upgrade, I will be on a 2Mb line with 15 GB / month allowance. That seems pretty fair, especially as they have dropped the price to 24.99 a month. You can find out more here - http://www.bt.com/broadband/2mb/ I did a quick comparison with Eclipses latest 2Mb offering ( http://www.eclipse.net.uk/index.cfm?id=paygresidentialintro ), and they are only charging 14.99 for a 2Mb line, but for that you only get 1 GB / month bandwidth. After bringing the bandwidth up to the 15 GB offered by BT and adding in the relevant charges, this makes Eclipses 2Mb offering quite a bit more expensive ... BT 2Mb line with 15 GB allowance - £24.99 / month Eclipse 2Mb line with 15 GB allowance - £39.49 / month I only post this as a balance to the BT broadband problem posts I have seen around. I realize that the Eclipse basic offering at £14.99 / month is a lot cheaper, but I for one would/do definitely use more than 1GB / month (only 2 cds of your favourite distro for example). Plus, I have never had any issues with BT's service and this is the second time they have dropped the price, and now they are increasing the line speed too ! Can't be bad really. Anybody got any better options ? Regards alan -- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
