1.2GB databases - oh what Oracle called "small" back in the 90's ;) Does that include indexes?
Yes. Currently is in XBase .dbf files with indexes very like Foxpro. The whole lot plus some additional stuff compresses with bzip2 to 110 MBytes. So 5 historical backups on one CD. The letters, company business stuff and reference stuff are separate collections, and as we move more paper records into scanned images the volume of that is increasing steadily as well. I _still_ don't like tapes. -- Adrian Midgley Open Source software is better GP, Exeter http://www.defoam.net/ Why this sig: http://www.defoam.net/whysig.txt -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
