Hi Everybody, I've got a problem with the SIS 7012 onboard sound controller in my Linux box. The box dual boots with Windows XP Home and, up to now the sound controller has worked OK under Linux (SuSE 9.1 with kernel 2.6.5-7.111.5). Yesterday, I upgraded my XP to service pack 2. One of the associated downloads was described as a "hardware update" that seems to have affected the sound controller. During installation of this "hardware update" the box crashed causing a reboot. On restarting Windows I got a message that it had "recovered from a serious problem". Since then, the sound controller works OK under Windows but I can't get a peep out of it under Linux. The controller gets detected OK and the modules get loaded (see below for part of my lsmod listing) but nothing seems to work. I've tried alsconf, YaST, fiddling with volume settings and passing the io & irq to the intel8x0 module from modprobe.conf but the sound system remains obstinately silent. Trouble is I'm a relative newbie and I'm poking around in the dark. I don't know whether I've done something to break it or whether Windows has written something to the onboard controller. I've been poking around in Gnomemeeting lately with a view to getting a webcam and microphone. I don't know if I've inadvertantly changed something while doing that (I don't think so). Anybody come across anything like this before. Any suggestions gratefully received.
