The megaraid drivers have been in the kernel for a while (I have 2.4.26
on this box currently), it is GPLed, and copyright LSI. LSI are the
brains behind a lot of RAID hardware, not all of which carries their
name, and not all of which is properly supported either. So it is a good
sign but not sufficient.

VRMS is happy on this box, but then he doesn't know I told Debian to
install that module to make the DVDs work, but I guess even THAT is free
software, although possibly illegal in some places (I assume it is legal
based on previous European case law).

The guy who did the Debian on DELL disk tells me 2.6 is rock solid on
his DELL hardware as well.
