the /dev/sda looks interesting, whats the difference between sda and sda1?

About the same as Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Close, but no banana.

Files: /dev/sda,
  Config Status: cfg=new, avail=no, need=no, active=unknown

Put this in /etc/fstab
/dev/sda /media/camera vfat rw,noauto,user 0 0

Then mount the filesystem as a user - as and when needed. Your script only
needs:
mount /media/camera
once it is defined in /etc/fstab in the above manner.
