Re: [LUG] Broadband

Personally I have used a conexant modem/router/bridge/makestea which has a built in 4 port switch. I can categorically say that I never had a sime problem with it that wasn;t my own mistake (wrong passwords etc)

You may also want to look at Draytek Vigor ADSL modems... we have a nice shiny one in the office that has the ability to do LOADS of stuff such as;

a USB port to act as a print server
QoS
VPN
4 port Switch
built in Firewall

admitedly not everyone is going to want those options.. but it's there just in case.

Hi Guys

I'm going Broadband shortly and want a router/modem. I was going to
buy a Dlink but thought I would ask the group what they thought
before doing so.
I use a speedtouch 530 through a cheapy 8-port switch. It just works
on my mixed MS / MDK network.

My Father-in-Law uses Belkin wireless kit with built-in switch. The
wireless has been problematic from time to time but otherwise
absolutely fine but he is MS only.
