Actually it demonstrates only;

Some "power" Excel users don't know how to use it (make of this what you
will).

It doesn't demonstrate Gnumeric is better, unless you have repeated the
analysis they performed and found it faster/more accurate/easier to
use/other criteria (less likely to foul up is probably appropriate one
to add).

There is the cynical view that inside every spreadsheet is a database
application trying to escape ;)

We could subsidy their purchase of a copy of "Beginning Perl for
Bioinformatics."
