PJL is a printer control language I believe. At least I think it use to
run on HP printers when I did a lot of HP stuff.

My experience with *nix of all flavours is go for a printer that
supports Postscript if you have the choice, difference between "maybe
getting a decent driver", and knowing you can easily do the most complex
printer output.

Some of the trickier printers can be made to work with print servers,
but Postscript is where it was at all through the 90's - things may have
moved on I tend to regard printing as "something other people do",
rarely see the need myself.
