Not legally.

If you are staging it as part of playing a DVD you own then copying it onto a 
magnetic disc is not something to which I can see a cogent objection, 
although there are well-organised groups who would attempt to stop you.

(oddly, on the basis that if they sold you a watch, and it broke, you would 
not be entitled to have them make you another which is so clearly illogical 
that perhaps they don't have a working argument against backing up)

Can one mount such a collection as a loop and play it as a DVD drive, BTW?
