To be fair some of these are interesting talks and even Microsoft can be constructive when they send a Microsoft Research person.
BUT when these turn in to FUD spreading sessions then the important thing is to react - I countered a Unisys recruitment evening in Nottingham by tying the guy up in 45 minutes of questions related to the ethicality of his company and software patents in front of those he wanted to brainwash and recruit later - and reacted to another guest Microsoftised lecture which was very one sided with deliberately unpleasant questioning. Though I have been to lectures from the dark side and found the style and content non-biased and interesting.
Take it as it comes and see what happens - it might simply be interesting material on .NET.
