No, but unless you have the same geometry on both disks there isn't
really much point. Since you'd need to run lilo to regenerate the boot
sector and map file anyway.

The Promise controllers show up as SCSI, so if you use one you need to
make sure the driver is in the boot kernel or the initrd set of modules.
