Thanks for your comments Tony
Kword, Kate and other editors work OK, I have not found an update as yet 
for Kword.
As for Suse9 updates none that fit as yet.
To add to the confusion after a dozen reboots the /data1 file contents 
disappeared, (some script running ? may be)
And thanks Paul for your comments, do you have a data1 file in your root 
directory ?
