You don't have a local MEP, you vote for parties at a regional level,
and get a set of MEP allocated, or something like that.

There was a very good program on the radio discussing it a while back,
try www.bbc.co.uk.

Half the MEPs on the program thought it was a terrible and undemocratic
system (the way Europe is run, not just the MEP electoral system).

Personally I think proportional representation systems suck anyway, but
not everyone agrees with me.

PR is probably a good way of deciding where to eat out with a bunch of
friends, or would be if it wasn't so complicated to run a vote. But even
then I'd demand a "Thai veto" for my peanut allergy, and you might have
to weed the candidates list of places without a vegetarian option.

Sometimes I think the anarchists might be onto something ;-)
