You don't have a local MEP, you vote for parties at a regional level, and get a set of MEP allocated, or something like that. There was a very good program on the radio discussing it a while back, try www.bbc.co.uk. Half the MEPs on the program thought it was a terrible and undemocratic system (the way Europe is run, not just the MEP electoral system). Personally I think proportional representation systems suck anyway, but not everyone agrees with me. PR is probably a good way of deciding where to eat out with a bunch of friends, or would be if it wasn't so complicated to run a vote. But even then I'd demand a "Thai veto" for my peanut allergy, and you might have to weed the candidates list of places without a vegetarian option. Sometimes I think the anarchists might be onto something ;-) -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE/Ufc3GFXfHI9FVgYRAjTtAJ9L3xjVO66MVnw2C+zx+pJF9YgsFgCgly1b LQ1e0Fu1E0pgXMbLBROPlvA= =Dlwz -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
