ASCII mode may be doing CR/LF transformations depending on what te
remote server expects, try binary mode, and "diff" the resulting files.

If it is Unix file formars both ends maybe they have a broken ftp proxy
or some such.

Oh for the VAX days when ftp'ing some grpahics formats with the wrong
options would shift each row left by one pixel as you went down the
image, or some such.
