I'm going to get the best of both worlds - I've got a 12-month programming contract lined up with QinetiQ for my gap year, then I'm hoping to go (exam results permitting!) to the University of Kent to a Computer Science BSc, quite possibly with a year in industry between years two and three. It should help ease my forthcoming financial troubles, too! As you say, I get the impression that real hands-on experience is pretty valuable, alongside academic qualifications, so I'd rather get some experience now, whilst I can still get help finding work from the Year in Industry scheme. Plus hopefully I will become a 1337 coder and contribute to some Open Source software projects pretty soon! 8-) Jon -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+sYfGeTVvFHAhe5cRAgRZAKCVjvcX7iyuBH/O1BkBx4fDSfSbYgCdGQ3j ii4quPRJfCZnntac5azJX5A= =gQ74 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG Mail majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe list" in the message body to unsubscribe.
