No... your iptables -L looks right. ppp0 is your network interface
right? iptables -F flushes, and if that fixes it, then you know the
firewall was messing with you. 

You need to save those commands in a file besides if you want your
machine to use that configuration, else when you shutdown it will not
reboot into a firewall configuration.

Copy the command line after line in a file, and call it something like
firewall.sh and chmod +x firewall.sh to make it executable when run.
