apache on linux can run asp pages using chilisoft - 
http://wwws.sun.com/software/chilisoft/  - and that will probably run 
most of the vb code you require.

however - you are going against the grain using this.  in web 
development it is best to keep clear blue water between MS products and 
open source - either use completely one or the other.  and i can say 
that you would be best using PHP/postgresql/mysql/apache/linux rather 
than ASP/IIS/windows  this is a far more productive environment.  for 
example PHP beats ASP as a web scripting language hands down.  in our 
experience using MS products means that projects take 4/5 times longer. 
as an example, an IIS web server which is behind a (windows) firewall 
has just been compromised again - last time this meant over a week's 
disruption.  implementing security AND allowing scripts to still run is 
very confusing as well,

as for the OS - if the server is web facing then debian is the best 
choice because it is easy to keep it up to date with security patches.
