On the contrary, if they haven't yet been shoehorned into a windoze mindset, they'll have far less fear of - let alone trouble with - Linux than an older person. Children will do best when they're motivated, so some interesting progs, including but not limited to games, would probably be in order. That could include things like Chess or Go online, according to taste and experience.
