Hey BT haven't even set a threshold for my exchange and only four people have registered an interest. But apparently I'm close enough to get the full bandwidth, assuming continential drift doesn't move the house too far before it gets enabled.
Don't hold your breath- but you might ask the nice BT lady who answers the 'phone when you rattle the rest (and pushes the plugs in to connect you to your friend's three-figure 'phone number) when its likely to be- it may be like the more popular public schools, so if you don't get your son's name down when he's born it's too late. Come to think of it, register all your real and likely children as being interested.
Ho hum - I still think an antenna of the physics building is my best bet. Some how I don't think the mobile phone company will like me putting an antenna on their mast, but it is oh so well located and has power and everything ;)
