hi steve,

i've been using PHP a fair bit recently and it is ideal for programming 
web apps - it's fast, clean and the list of functions is incredible.

definitely a well designed language,

also, midnight commander HAS to be in the list - for machines with no X 
windows it is so useful with its built-in editor, viewer, command-line 
etc. etc.  it's also easy to manipulate files with,
