There are often floppy images (often stored in a directory called images :) ).
There will usually be a program called rawrite.exe (or rawrite2.exe) to write these images to a floppy disk (often stored in a directory called dosutils or similar).

Use it to write one called something like cdrom.img or boot.img and see if you can boot from floppy.
There might also be a bios setting for booting from CDROM that you have to set.
I find that a generic extended svga often tends to work with monitors (although I can not be held responsible if you blow up your monitor etc....). Play around with a few of the generic ones see if any work well.

.1 have tried that but it wont boot,gave up with 7.1 as well in the end ( got it installed but couldnt configer the graphics..as have old Monitor with no details and Vesa drivers no BG..flickery screen was enough to drve anyone round the bend  in windows its all plug and play!..why make it hard!!) Do you really need to be a Linux " Geek" (sorry) to install any Linux programme..M Hirons ( PS yes I know about Yast2..not much success with that either..!!
