Well i finally did it.. i broke my root filesystem...

What did you do to break it? Loose power? Drop come coke in it? (I
did that once ;))

fsck /dev/hdd5 <-- fails

Fails with what error?

fsck -b 8136 (i think) /dev/hdd5 <-- also fails

Likewise?
