Re: [LUG] Wanting to really put an effort to learn Linux properly.

hi matt,

i've used vmware and think you should bear in mind that vmware can have some complications when it comes to the peripherals and networking - and also you are running on windows 2000 so odd things will happen (i work with win2k every day) - and these odd things could cause you lots of grief/time. my advice - sorry if this is a repeat - is to get a spare hard drive and try out a linux install on that. if you get a disk caddy then swapping drives is fairly painless,

I think for now, I'll install Mandrake under VMWare under Windows 2000,
which is better than nothing I suppose.

Once I've got it installed, prepare for a LOT of questions.

Does anyone on the list have experience with Linux on a Mac? I was thinking
that maybe I'll buy a Mac, and run OS/X and Linux, and then run Virtual PC
under OS/X for the occasional bit of Windows and OS/2 Warp.

Matt
