We (computing service) have had companies in to do 'in-house' training, and
likewise we had to provide the lab (basically tables and powerpoints). They
provided the actual equipment. These were MS courses and (still) cost a fair
bit. Years ago I did a Sun solaris (2.4!) in-house course which likewise cost
a fortune and was a hassle to arrange (for my manager) despite it being what
people within the Uni wanted! But then linux folk aren't like that...

Within the Uni you may want to start with the School of Computing since they
already have a lab of linux (mandrake I think) boxes. Failing that I'm sure
there may well be enough technicians, etc within the Uni departments to get
equipment together, a lab itself, who knows maybe even money?

For myself I may well be interested in some such course. There have been
enough people around here doing their MCSE's (?) or whatever *AND* having
it paid by the Uni (note that Matthew! :-) ) I've not bothered with
Sun/linux courses simply due to cost - I asked about a Sun course
($2000) and was told that it was too expensive. So I guess I may well have
to pay for a linux one as well.

John.
