Last time I was in there they were redhat boxes, but it makes little odds. Getting on for 2 years ago I did a NT (yes yes, I know) course with the University that had been arranged by the Faculty of Technology, and used one of the School Of Computing labs for a few weeks during the summer, so there's definitely the facility there for courses. I can't remember the name of the woman from the Faculty who arranged it, but it was taught by one of the SoC's Senior Lecturers (Pete Melhuish). He was also my final year project tutor (The Development of GNU, Linux and Open Source), and has a reasonable interest in all things open/free/unixy etc. Perhaps he's a good person to ask initially?
