Thanks Dan,  that is very helpful,  I feel more confident about being able to promote.

End of the day,  this is a friendly, inclusive community, helpful community and I really want the LUG to thrive where others have fallen off the radar.

Re ID verification, the only time I can think of this is or was relevant is when we used to do key signing,  and that was rare.

Thanks again

Paul

By a rather spooky coincidence, I just spotted this on the Matrix.org official account.

We have updated our Homeserver Terms and Privacy Policy. We strongly encourage you to read these documents in full, but for clarity these are some of the main changes:

Updated the minimum age requirements for use of the Matrix.org Homeserver to be 18 years old; Introduced new measures to comply with our obligations under the Online Safety Act and the Digital Services Act; Introduced new payment terms to support paid plans on the Matrix.org Homeserver; Describe the new data processors to support paid plans on the Matrix.org Homeserver.

Each of the documents has a detailed version history which we encourage you to review. The updated Homeserver Terms and Privacy Policy take effect on 7 August, 2025. These terms apply to you by continuing to use the homeserver after that date. If you have any questions please drop us an email to legal@xxxxxxxxxx

Nothing I can see prevents young people taking part in this. There's nothing overtly adult or over-18 about the subject, a general "all audiences" theme is good enough.

OSA is actually unenforceable internationally/globally (violates a bunch of human rights to privacy and security amongst other things) and is not relevant to general audience groups - there's nothing we require identity verification for.

It's already being worn down and will have to exist at a far smaller scope than the people who invented it wants it to, if at all.

    Hi All

Just asking a question here regarding the UK Online Safety Act,  does
this actually prevent young people from taking part in activities such
as Mission Libre, and perhaps even joining groups such as this.

It would be useful to know where people stand on a range of issues in
    respect of the act.
