Just upgraded the computer because some work access requires Windows and running
teams|zoom from a browser is a pain so bought Dell Vostro 3710, updated everything,
scrubbed Windows and installed Devuan and am slowly switching all data across. Two
bug bears
1. Dual Monitor
Dell Vostro 3710 comes with a display port and HDMI ports
driven by Intel UHD Graphics 770 with shared graphics memory
I have two monitors (different sizes, one with just HDMI and
the other with display port and HDMI)
$ xrandr -q
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 1920 x 1080, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 1920 x 1080
default connected 1920x1080+0+0 0mm x 0mm
1920x1080 77.00*
# lspci -k | grep -A 2 -i "VGA"
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation AlderLake-S GT1 (rev 0c)
Subsystem: Dell Device 0ad1
00:04.0 Signal processing controller: Intel Corporation Device 461d (rev 02)
2. Installing KVM
This is planned for this weekend.. windows wants internet
access to install.
Anyone have bright ideas as to the best way to get the dual monitor to work
(previous monitor was bought in 2018)
Any help much appreciated
