The media centres already run properly. See e.g. the Slice unit which was kickstarted a while back.
Personally, I would drop the ethernet and integrate wifi instead but that's a minor gripe.
Make one with the Computer Module... There's already at least 2 "media centre" type things with the CM. (and that's Pi v1 technology)
