Remove the CMOS battery, power on the laptop, power off the laptop, replace the CMOS battery.

Alternatively, do as Grant says, but take out the laptop battery and do it on mains power, so when it's switched off the CMOS can't get power from anywhere, removes possibility of it retaining power from the battery even with system powered down.
