Re: [LUG] Wireless router

i have a netgear wgr614 v7 wireless router you can have for a Â5 if your intreasted. its only a/b/g and 54Mbs (wifi) 100Mbs (lan). i have no need for it atm so your welcome to have it if you want it. got the plug as well

since you have cable you will need to switch it to modem mode (virgin media - super hub). accepts internet in via ethernet and has 4 ethernet out ports.

Hey guys

I am looking for a router, I have a fibre over copper connection and one of those little white BT boxes. up(80Mbps) down(10Mbps).

I am looking for a Wireless router that is highly configurable. I would like to have some features such as bandwidth limiting, p2p and torrent speed restrictions. I need to whitelist all devices that I wish to allow to connect to my network, I would like anti hacking stuff if there is such a thing.
Â
When choosing a router these are my priorities...
Â
1: Security (the more secure the better)
2: Shape shifting and bandwidth limiting (wireless only)
3: Range over bandwidth
4: Logging
Â
The only spare computer I have is going to be my file server on a different subnet, I will consider buying another old PC if it would allow me to "secure" my LAN over buying a new router!
Â
Advice and discussions needed! ;-)
