I have a Sync master on Fedora 12

I remember having to ditch the "recommended driver" and install nvidia 

so from the xorg.conf

more /etc/X11/xorg.conf
# RPM Fusion - nvidia-xorg.conf
# 
Section "Device"
        Identifier  "Videocard0"
        Driver      "nvidia"
EndSection

gives me res of 1680 x 1050 @ 16.7 million colors
