Not done it on a HTC but I tried Cyanogenmod 7 on my Samsung Galaxy S, worked quite well but I got too used to the Samsung interface on Android so I went back to the Samsung customised Android 2.3 and rooted it. I'm possibly going to try Cyanogenmod 9 when it's a bit more stable.
