Returning to the originaltext with its reference to Snopes I checked and found this: http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/invitation.asp The reason it referred to the Olympic Torch was that this version of the hoax was re-written for the 2006 Winter Olympics. The original went back to about 2000.
