Having used computers for many years I started in the days of keyboard input for everything. For that reason I like to use keyboard shortcuts where possible. Just wondering, Neil [1] This reminds me of the time I was working on a computer with a fairly young friend. I wanted to give a negative response to a pop-up window so I pressed the N key. He looked at me in amazement and asked what on earth I had just done. When I explained he couldn't believe me. He didn't know that you could use the keyboard in that way. He used the mouse for everything.
I didn't really use keyboard shortcuts much (except using vi), until I installed Crunchbang on my netbook. The hotkeys setup on that is brilliant. (Super+w browser, Super+e email etc)
Then I upgraded my desktop to Fedora 15 complete with Gnome 3 which I found completely impossible to drive. The appalling application menu system did teach me how useful alt-tab and alt-f2 are though.
I've since ditched gnome for xcfe, but the super / windows button wouldn't trigger any hotkeys and in trying to fix it I've stopped any of the keyboard short cuts working.
