 If it is of any help I could bring along my Ubuntu loaded laptop (eMachine D620) 

as I am so pleased with it - ubuntu that is.  I would be happy to 'show it off' to

anyone interested.  There could however be a, sort of, catch to this offer as 

the printing still isn't sorted and resorting to XP is still needed, 

somehow I suspect it could be easily put right on/for the day?

That would be the icing on the cake for me!
