P2P is just "peer to peer". It goes from one machine to another without going via a 3rd party. It may be coming off more than one machine and being amalgamated on your machine.

Some P2P applications allow others to share what you're downloading (or have downloaded), but it's not compulsory. It will all depend on the software you're using to facilitate the peer to peer connection.
