Seconded.  Living just down from Mutley I can make pretty much anywhere
in Plymouth quite easily.

Either weekday or weekend is good with me, but I imagine weekend is
probably more accessible for others.

Maybe starting out with an informal social would be better.  I'm fine
with doing presentation/talks about something I'm comfortable with
(kinda goes along with the territory of being a
teacher/lecturer/tutor/whatever).

Maybe doing a more formal meet with talks, etc, for another time?

Yeah, there's the various Wetherspoons around.  The Mutley Crown is OK
too - as for being near the City center... everywhere is! :D
