Actually it should be GMT. (Same time as UTC, but not invented by the French which is always a plus point).

Actually... GMT is not the same as UTC. UTC is slightly different in that it can be just under one second different from GMT.

A day in GMT time is defined as the highest point of the sun as viewed on the Grenwich meridian from one day to the next - it varies due to the earths wobble and non standard rotational speed. A day in UTC is always the same length as defined by atomic clocks. The two are kept in sync with "leap seconds" added every now and then, as required.

For practical, day to day use, it's probably OK to think of them as being the same though...
