Have you not added an A record for the DNS to redirect you straight
there or do you not have DNS control?

There is some cleverness with the DNS, which limits what I can do with it.

I suppose I could run BIND here and override that locally

I was thinking of mod_rewrite or virtual hosts, on this machine.
