If you go for a devolo type plug solution, which sounds better for your
situation assuming everything is on the same main circuit, I found that
the new high speed devolo plug starter kit (that's two wired connections
- which sounds like what you need as your spare card doesn't work) is
£30 cheaper when bought from BT the PC world and others. You could also
look at Solwise for cheaper options, though their wifi plug/point has
worked great for years I've not had good experiences with their plugs.
