Thanks for helpful responses. The BT chap I mentioned has come back to me and is looking into what is happening at their end and will ring again tomorrow. I believe BT Total Broadband includes BT Yahoo as well as BTinternet and BTopenworld. These two services overlap so I have addresses with each of them for reasons that elude me.
