I remember in year 9 (1989 or thereabouts)  I got to use the dooms day 
disc,  cdrom the size of the old style LP records  myself and to year 7 
computer geeks from year 7 got to play with it on a acorn achemedies.

Not quite cd recordable,  but retro memory all the same.
