Good idea, what happened to the meet about a linux / oss alternative to
an exchange server, did this take place, what happened, ?

Back to your idea, as its been stated before

1. Find a suitable venue
2. Book if required
3. Announce here AND on wiki meetings page with details of venue, I
would also allow for people coming along who may not be that interested
in the main topic, so a quiet area, where they can chat / work on say
troubleshooting or advice is very useful.

I would wait till after Xmas, at the moment we have a 2nd penzance meet
on the cards, on the 15, after that its far too close to xmas. Also
after xmas, days start getting longer.

In january I am happy to set up a meeting in Paignton, if anyoe wants
to just get together, and do some related hacking.
