I wish I'd known about that earlier! ddrescue is amazing!

One more question- if I do ddrescue /dev/hdc /mnt/usb/rescued.img and 
the HDD is 40Gb, but only has 18Gb used, will rescued.img take up 18Gb 
or 40Gb?
