If your router is connected by USB then 'its part of the PC' .
If its connected by network cable then its part of the network and no the PC - 
the PC doesn't (shouldn't) need to recognise it - just the PC network card.
Do you manage the router via a web page?
If so check configurations -DHCP etc - are there two pc's with the same IP on 
the network? Even check the logs on the router to see if the line is staying 
up.
